Tennova Healthcare - Newport Medical Center Recognized by the Tennessee Hospital Association for Zero Harm Award

Newport Medical Center has been recognized by the Tennessee Hospital Association (THA) with a Zero Harm Award for achieving zero healthcare-associated infections in one or more categories throughout calendar year 2025.
The Zero Harm Awards recognize Tennessee hospitals and clinical departments that demonstrate exceptional commitment to patient safety by preventing healthcare-associated infections. Awards are presented in four categories: Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI), Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI), Clostridium difficile Infections (CDI), and Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) over the past calendar year.
Newport Medical Center achieved THA Zero Harm clinical awards hospital-wide in all four categories: CDI, CLABSI, CAUTI and MRSA, marking the second consecutive year the hospital has received hospital-wide Zero Harm Awards in all four categories. The THA Zero Harm Awards honor hospitals that foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement while delivering high-quality care to the patients and communities they serve. This year, 100 hospitals earned the award, with 16 hospitals receiving the highest recognition for reporting zero hospital-wide infections across all four categories in 2025. Newport Medical Center was one of those 16 hospitals recognized with this highest level of achievement.

The THA Zero Harm Awards are presented annually by THA’s Tennessee Center for Patient Safety to honor hospitals that go extended periods without healthcare-associated infections.
