Tennova Newport Convalescent Center
Tennova Newport Convalescent Center is an intermediate long-term care facility for individuals who are no longer able to care for themselves. We offer compassionate and attentive care in a safe, healing environment.
The 56-bed center features a secure, home-like atmosphere where residents can decorate their rooms with personal furniture as well as plants, special photographs and their own blankets or quilts. And because we want residents to feel at home, we encourage a comfortable clothes dress code.
Providing an Interdisciplinary Approach to Care
The dedicated staff is trained to care for individuals who need supervised medical attention as well as those who only require assistance with the basics of daily living. The nursing team receives ongoing education to maintain the highest standard of care. The rehabilitation therapy team offers a coordinated program, which focuses on restoring function, decreasing pain, increasing strength and endurance, regaining independence, and improving language, swallowing and cognitive function. With Newport Medical Center adjacent to the facility, residents have convenient access to physicians and other healthcare services.

Referring a Patient
Tennova Newport Convalescent Center is a member of the Tennessee Health Care Association and has been serving the needs of area residents for more than 40 years. We welcome referrals from physicians, hospitals, social workers and family members. Following a referral, the team completes a screening process to determine whether a patient is a candidate. Intermediate long-term care is covered by most major medical insurance plans, including Medicaid, and our business office offers assistance to those applying for insurance benefits.
COVID-19 Update
Maintaining the safety of patients/residents and caregivers is the highest priority and we are focused on providing a COVID-safe environment. Numerous precautions for infection control and social distancing are in place so patients can safely receive the medical services they need.
All patients/residents and employees are screened daily for symptoms of COVID-19. Non-COVID-19 care areas are defined where patients who have screened as negative for COVID-19 receive care from dedicated staff. If at any time we are caring for COVID-19 positive patients, they are grouped together in the same unit away from all other patients.
Reporting of cases is updated as any new positive cases are identified or if three or more patients or employees develop COVID-19 symptoms within a 72-hour period.

Screening The Staff
Before each shift, staff members are screened for symptoms such as a temperature, cough or difficulty breathing. Any who have symptoms remain at home in self-quarantine while they wait for their COVID-19 test results.
Infection Prevention
Caregivers practice infection prevention every day, including wearing face masks and other personal protective equipment and washing hands before and after caring for each patient. Cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces and caregiving spaces has been intensified. Additional precautions include a no-visitor policy and suspension of group activities and community dining.
The safety of patients/residents and the delivery of quality, compassionate care are the top priorities.
